Wondering about Mechanical Engineering?

So,here in this article you will be acknowledge with every aspect of Mechanical Engineering,

What is mechanical engineering? How it is evolved? What it actually comprises of?

What are the Career Opportunities in Mechanical engineering?

What is mechanical engineering?

Mechanical engineering is the versatile and most diverse disciple of engineering in addition to physics and mathematics. It is actually application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering from design to manufacturing to the marketplace for any object. It encompasses key elements of aerospace, electrical, civil, chemical and even materials science and bio-engineering. Mechanical engineering touches virtually every aspect of modern life, from mobile phones and biomedical devices, to aircraft and power plants.

Their are different aspect on the basis of which every mechanical engineer analyse their work like motion energy and force. So mechanical engineer make a difference by easing the life of humankind by developing efficient technology and effective tools.

Besides this, mechanical engineers can also be found in sales, engineering management, and corporate management.

Origin of Mechanical Engineering-

Mechanical engineering emerged during the 18th century In Europe due to industrial revolution.however, its development can be traced back several thousand years around the world.

Basically development in physics lead to the development in Mechanical Engineering.

The earliest practical water powered machines, the water wheels and watermill, first appeared in the Persian empire, what are now Iraq and Iran, by the early 4th century BC.

And their are many more country based evolvement of Mechanical engineering. Many prominent scholars like Sir Issac newton played a major role in development of Mechanical engineering by formulation of Newton's law of Motion and development of Calculus. So basically,Education in mechanical engineering has historically been based on a strong foundation in mathematics and science.

Elements of Mechanical Engineering-

mechanical engineers use tools such as:-

1)Computer Added design(CAD)

CAD is the use of computers to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. In mechanical engineering it is known as mechanical design automation (MDA) or computer-aided drafting (CAD), which includes the process of creating a technical drawing with the use of computer software.

2) Computer added manufacturing(CAM)-

CAD is the use of software to control machine tools and related ones in the manufacturing of work pieces. It may also refer to the use of a computer to assist in all operations of a manufacturing plant, including planning, management, transportation and storage.

Apart from these two the other Mechanical engineering tools are product life cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery heating and cooling system, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons and others.

Career Opportunities in Mechanical engineering?

With the advancement in technology in the coming phase mechanical engineers will have a edge at strong job prospect and also this field holds exceptional earning potential.

Mechanical engineering deals with the design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of anything that has moving parts. Because of this, you'll find relevant opportunities in a range of sectors, including:

◆aerospace engineering

◆automotive engineering

◆construction

◆energy

◆manufacturing

◆medicine

◆railway engineering

◆sport

Mainly,Mechanical Engineer JOB is divided among 3 Sectors-

1)Public Sector:-

Most of the public sector companies recruit candidates based on their GATE score some conduct their separate Entrance exam. Some of the top public sector undertaking (PSUs) companies which hire a large number of mechanical engineers are:

●Oil and Natural Gas Corporation(ONGC)

●National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC)

●Indian Oil Corporation Limited(IOCL)

●Bharat Petroleum(BP)

●Hindustan Petroleum(HP)

●Gas Authority of India Limited(GAIL)

●Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL)

2)Government Sector:-

Government sector is very lucrative for Mechanical Engineers. Here jobs are mostly based on Research and very few in Design And Production.Growth rate is lenient in this sector.Jobs are very few and highly competitive.

Some of the prominent Organisations are:-

●Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

●Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC)

●Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO)

●Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR) recruits graduate as a Research fellows.

3)Private Sector-

Their are Bulk of opportunities for Mechanical engineer in Private sector.Top private industry prefer direct Recruitment from Recognized Institutions.

Small industry recruitment is based on Advertisement&Consultancy.Growth in private sector is slow initially and becomes exponential after 5-10years. Here most of the jobs are based on Production and Design and very few in Research. Some of the top private companies that recruit mechanical engineers are Thermax, Larsen & Toubro, Godrej Group, Kirloskar, TATA Group, Jindal Steel, etc.

Like careers in many other engineering fields, mechanical engineers are well paid. Compared to other fields, mechanical engineers earn well above average throughout each stage of their careers.

If you are Interested in this field and wanted to make career then this is the best step to take ahead and enlighten your future.
